The Woolly Tangle
The Woolly Tangle was founded around 10 years ago by Tanya, while she was at home with her second child.
What began with a handmade project bag gifted to her mum quickly turned into something more, as she found joy in seeing it used and appreciated. From there, she ventured into dyeing yarn — initially just for herself, for fun — but it has grown steadily over the years.

Though Tanya has experimented with many types of yarn, she always returns to the silk blends. These make up the majority of her current range, as the way they take the dye complements her style and colour palette beautifully. They’re also wonderfully soft with a lovely drape. That said, a couple of supersoft sock blends have also found a permanent place in her collection.

What Tanya loves most about this work is seeing what her creations become. While she provides the colour, it’s the maker who transforms the yarn into a finished piece. Being part of someone’s creative vision - something they’ll wear, use and love - is incredibly rewarding.

Her family often jokes that they’re having blue string pudding for tea, as a good portion of the dyeing takes place on her kitchen cooker. (That one’s for the Clangers fans!)

At our Yarnies event, Tanya will be bringing a variety of yarn bases, a selection of her handmade project bags and as many stitch markers as she can squeeze in!
